ABOUT THE REGATTA: This is our closest regatta of the fall. Located in Northeast Portland (next to OMSI), this race course travels right through the heart of downtown Portland. This is a one day regatta with no over-night stay. As the regatta nears, check out the Rose City Rowing Club site.

To view the course, go to YouTube video link.

TRANSPORTATION: Our Transportation Coordinator will contact you via our Listserve prior to the regatta. Please let them know if you need a ride, can provide a ride, or are going on your own. They will coordinate carpooling for everyone. Please bring $10 if you are traveling in another athletes car to help with gas. This is a one day regatta, so plan on leaving Eugene early and getting home late on Saturday.

FOOD: The team will provide breakfast and lunch. Athletes will be on their own for any food needed/wanted during travel.

Frostbite & Head of the Lake (Seattle, WA)

TRANSPORTATION: Rowers and their families will head up to Seattle on their own the Friday before the regatta. Transportation for these regattas will be by carpool in private vehicles. Please let the Transportation Coordinator know how your athlete is getting to/from the regattas. If you are taking other athletes, please remember that you are responsible for transporting to/from regattas. If you are traveling in someone elses car please bring $10 to help with gas.

Athletes will need to help with the boats at Green Lake (5900 W Green Lake N) on Friday evening.

ACCOMMODATIONS: Rowers arrive at University Prep School no earlier than 8 p.m. and no later than 9 p.m.

University Prep is at 8000 25th Ave NE. It is in a residential area, just a bit tricky to get to, so you are encouraged to access mapquest (or similar) for directions. See BELOW for driving directions. Bring your sleeping gear, toiletries, and towels, because there are showers. There will be parent chaperones sleeping on site.

Parent volunteers will be checking athletes in at the school gym. Be sure to let them know you are there. The school is not available for earlier check in and on Saturday morning all rowers need to consolidate their belongings on to the bleachers, as the school will be used for other activities during the day. There will be no access to the gym during the day. We are very grateful to University Prep for letting us use their gym and so we must take care with the facilities. On Sunday morning, the gym must be swept clean. University Prep personnel will inspect the facility at 8 a.m.

Families are on their own for dinner both Friday and Saturday nights. Families are on their own for lodging in Seattle. See information below for some hotel ideas.

Saturday morning comes VERY early. Parents are responsible for transporting their athletes and those in their carpool to and from the lake. The coaches will give the line ups and exact times for the events on Saturday.

You can access Frostbite regatta information by going to the Green Lake website. There is stadium type seating where you can view the races, but the cement can be cold and damp so you might want to bring a blanket or stadium chair and settle in at the finish line or other views of the race.

The coaches will announce what time the athletes all need to leave the gym on Sunday morning for Head of the Lake, but check in time on Saturday evening is the same (between 8-9:00p.m.). On Sunday morning two parent volunteers, will sweep the gym after the athletes have departed (but be sure to double and triple check yourself to make sure you have all your personal items).

Head of the Lake
Sunday's race is a long one and viewing is great! Here is a great course map. In the past parents have watched along the water near the Montlake Blvd Bridge (called "the cut") or from the bridge itself. Staging for the trailers and boats is at Husky Stadium (University of Washington).

FOOD: There is warm nutritious food at the food tent for rowers and their families, including breakfast and lunch. Dinner is on your own, please bring money for Friday and Saturday dinners.

ATHLETES: Bring snacks for the car, water bottle filled with water, cash for dinner and gas contribution to give to driver. Remember uni and JL and warm clothes, socks, many changes of clothing, etc.
